Family Portraits with Mika Inokoshi Photography

The past weekend my good photographer friend Mika from Vancouver came to the bay area to photograph one of her friend's wedding. Mika and I both started our photography business around the same time back in 2007. Every time we would see each other, we always had a lot to talk about! So when Mika stayed with us for a few days, it was great just to hang out and catch up! One night, we kept each other awake until 3:00 am because we had a "Cathy and Mika editing bootcamp session" so we could compare our editing styles! Oh the fun!!!

Family Portraits

Last weekend, we dusted off the tripod and took some family portraits with our new baby. Emi is now 3 weeks young and she still loves her sleeping and eating schedule--we do too! So far, I call her my 'dream' baby because she doesn't make any noise unless she's hungry and she doesn't even seem to mind a dirty diaper! Keep it up Emi!!

On another side note, today my hubby turns 31!!! Happy Birthday, I LOVE YOU!!!! 2 kids by age 30, we're doing pretty good on our 10 year plan :)

San Francisco Bay Area Newborn Photographer: Welcome Baby Emi!

Exactly 10 days ago on July 18, 2011, it was the day I held my sweet and precious girl in my arms for the very first time! Meet Emi, she is the newest addition to our family and she is super sweet and so loved! Months before my due date, I was already looking forward to her newborn session :) It's nice to have a personal baby model, and here are my favorite images!

Almost There

I'm officially off bedrest at 36 weeks, with modified activity! Two and a half weeks of doing nothing actually went by faster than I thought :) It totally helped that Randy and Tyler was home with me for the very first week. Luckily, I prepared early and all the new baby clothing was already washed and folded away prior to being on bedrest. With my due date just around the corner, the time off allowed me to mentally prepare for the arrival of our baby girl.

When my good friend Yuan came by to visit, she graciously helped me take some beautiful maternity photos with my camera. It was totally awkward being on the other side of the lens for this kind of shoot, and I kept needing direction on which way to look and how to pose even though I do this for my clients! Thanks Yuan for capturing the last few weeks of my pregnancy :) Life at home will change once again when baby #2 arrives - in a very good way!

Our family Portraits

On our trip to Mexico, we met up with our long time friends Makki and Grace who has a daughter, Kayla that's just a few months younger than Tyler. It was an instant bond between the pair since they were the only other family with a child. One evening we decided to help each other take some family photos around the resort and here are a few that they got for us using my 5D. I'll be posting a couple of their family pictures on my next blog...stay tuned!

Vive le Mexico!

What an awesome time we had last week with all our good friends in Akumal, Mayan Riviera to celebrate our friends Katrina and Benson's destination wedding! In the next week or two I'll be posting a family session, engagement session, and a few pictures of Bentrina's beach wedding :) For now, here are some color popping photos that I love so much about Mexico!

The first 4 photos were taken from my point and shoot Canon s60 on the resort we were staying at, barely any edits were done as the photo color and quality from this camera are truly amazing!
