Ho HO hO

What's a better way to say Merry Christmas to everyone than blogging?? I really wish I could spend this holiday season with my family in Vancouver, but this year my husband and I get to spend our very first Christmas together in our new home in San Francisco, which makes it extra special (even though i'm working)! I hope everyone has a safe and fun holiday! And it's only another week till the new year, so make the best of what's left in 2007!!

Cheers!!

I delivered a baby!

What a night! As a labor and delivery nurse, we don't actually "deliver" babies per se, that's the DOC's job. Our role is to coach and support patients through their labor and to assist the obstetrician during the delivery. Yesterday however, we had a patient come in for her 3rd baby, and she quickly dilated to 10 cm and felt like pushing! The doctor was coming from home and obviously wouldn't make it, and so I ended up delivering the baby for my first time in my 2+ years in L&D! I clamped and cut the umbilical cord and the baby was whisked away to the infant warmer, then about 5 minutes later the doc comes strolling in to make her appearance...

So of course I had to take a picture with my camera phone to document my first baby delivery! Oh, and before I weighed the baby I made a guess that she would be 6 lbs 4 oz, and I was on the dot! Maybe I should buy a lottery ticket today :)

E-session: Becky + Jimmy = Sentimental

I had the ultimate pleasure in photographing Becky and Jimmy for their engagement session yesterday, who were referred to me by our mutual friend Yuann :) After 5 years of dating, the couple plan to say their vows in October of 2008 at the Shakespeare Gardens in Golden Gate Park, and this was their location of choice for yesterday's shoot. Becky's sweet laughter and beautiful smile captured very well in all of their photos! Many of the pictures came out really well, and I had a tough time just choosing my favorites from the bunch! I had so much fun, and you two make a sweet, sweet couple :) Congratulations!

First Xmas Dinner Party

Last night, Randy and I hosted our first 'couples' Xmas Dinner with my coworkers from CPMC, and the exception of KenRN.com who brought along his dog Caillou as his dinner date :) Following dessert we had a white elephant, with gifts like a lumbar back massager and 'The Complete Worst Case Scenario Survival Handbook'!! -- it was a great night to celebrate an early Xmas dinner and to enjoy each other's company! We also had the night off because of the CNA strike!

Our Place, ALL furnished!

After taking several trips to ikea and other home furnishing stores this past week, we are finally done decorating and we're so happy with how our new place looks! It's a treat to come back to a comfortable home after a long night's work, and the apartment is definately a lot more spacious to entertain! Here are a few "after" pictures, hope you'll like it!

APT #2 : Our New Place

View of the dining room area and hallway

Gobble, Gobble! Happy belated Thanksgiving everyone! I haven't been posting lately because my husband and I have been so busy moving into our new 2 bedroom apartment, about 30 blocks away in the Richmond area! What an upgrade from our previous studio apartment! Here are a couple teaser pictures of our new place, just so you can see part of our color theme. Once we have everything set up, I will be posting more pictures of our contemporary space :) To all our friends, we will definately be hosting more dinners, and our good friends from out of town will finally have their own guest bedroom and a real bed when you stay with us! No more uncomfortable futon! YAY :)

Honeymoon Memories

I realized it's been a week since I posted something! It's not like I dont' have any work to post process for my clients (which I'm already a little behind), but I felt like sharing a few of my recent honeymoon pictures to Jamaica when my husband and I went to Sandal's Montego Bay Resort! I'm feeling sentimental!!

Everyone should learn how to use the self timer function on their camera! There's no excuse :) You can always get the RIGHT picture after repeated attempts! LOL

WHO is cKAM photography?

Hello and welcome to my blog :) Grab a coffee, relax, and enjoy your visit! If this is your first time here, I invite you to add me to your favorites and hope you'll visit often!

My name is Cathy Kam, hence, cKAM photography :) When I was in elementary school, my peers would always remember my artistic abilities and illustrations, which is what I enjoyed most. Then in highschool, arts appealed less to me and I started loving the sciences. Fast forward 10 years, and now I'm a registered nurse in labor & delivery! I guess my interest in arts didn't last too long!

Needless to say, my "chemistry" for art finally sparked again last year! This time however, it came to me in the form of photography. Growing up, I always loved being behind the camera and infront of it! Like everyone else, all my pictures were from a point and shoot camera :) Well, it wasn't until I started experimenting with my brother in-law's 20D and my artistic flair re-surfaced! And this is how I began my journey into photography....

Don't be mistaken though, cKAM photography is made up of my husband Randy and I. He comes along to most of my photo shoots and assists me with second shooting, lighting and carrying my heavy equipment! Most of the time he doesn't complain :) Like I said before, I love to be in front of the camera! So here is my own photo shoot, pictures taken by my husband!

Little Darren

Little D deserves his own post on my blog! How in the world did our close friends (Tech and Yuan) bring such a wonderful joy to this world?

My conclusion: cool parents have cool kids! It's just that simple :)

Here are some pictures of Darren on our outing at Pebble Beach and Mystery Spot from 2 weeks ago :) Enjoy!

..Like father like son..

Darren's new 4 legged friend :)
