Just Blazing

Sorry, I've neglected this blog for the past week due to a busy work schedule! I promise after this weekend, I'll have new updates on Kristy & Mike's Wedding and a family session that I'll be shooting over the next week!

For now, I'll share a picture with you that I took at the Legion of Honor that represents the weather we've been having the past 3 days. It's been amazingly hot and beautiful, which is a wonderful change from the cold and foggy SF weather!

Have a great Thursday!

Portrait Session with Jewell

When my coworker Collette asked me to take her younger sister's senior portraits, I was more than happy! Jewell plans to get her braces on next week, so they decided to do an early photo session with me before she gets her grills :) Jewell has a natural photogenic smile already, so I can't imagine how beautiful her smile will be after her braces! Yesterday was just a perfect day to take pictures at Baker's beach despite the foggy SF weather lately.

Hope you like your photos!

Playing with some texture, I love how this picture turned out :)

Life Style + Events: Liz's Birthday

What a busy weekend I had! On Saturday night, my friend Liz celebrated her birthday in style at the Classic Bowling Center in Daly City. We had 3 or 4 lanes reserved, and our private party was held in a cool little bar that was tucked inside the bowling center. It was a fun night and I met a lot of new people! If you were at the party and would like to see the rest of the pictures, leave me your email! Thanks :)

Robyn + Jon's "Grand Gift" Day

"In Chinese Culture, a marriage is considered the joining of two families. Thus the parents of the bride's and groom's get involved in their wedding planning from very early on. Two families pick an auspicious date as the Betrothal Day. This is a formal meeting between the parents of the perspective bride and groom. The groom's family presents various proposal gifts that represents fertility and prosperity in Chinese culture, which is also known as "Grand Gift" or "Guo Da Li". All gifts should come in even numbers, meaning "good things double" in Chinese culture. Thus, the two are considered officially engaged."

Yesterday morning, the groom and his entourage started the day by bringing a variety of proposal gifts to the bride's parents' home. Some of the traditional gifts that they brought included a whole roasted pig, "double happiness" wedding cakes, two chickens, and a variety of other goods that represent "fertility and prosperity" in Chinese culture. As one of Robyn's good friends, I was glad that I could be there to share this day with her and to document a once in a lifetime celebration with her extended family!
